1 Submission & Account

Q1 How do I submit an article to JKBTI?

Log in to your account on our OJS platform, click "New Submission", and follow the 5-step guided process: (1) Start, (2) Upload Submission, (3) Enter Metadata, (4) Confirmation, and (5) Finish. Make sure your manuscript follows the JKBTI template before submission.

Q2 Can I edit my article after submission?

No, you cannot edit it directly after submission. Once submitted, the manuscript enters the editorial workflow. If you need to make changes, please contact the editor immediately via email at redaksi@ninetyjournal.com before the review process begins.

Q3 What if I forget my password?

Use the "Forgot Password?" link on the login page to reset your password via email. You will receive a link to create a new password. If you do not receive the email, check your spam folder or contact our IT support at admin@ninetyjournal.com.

Q4 Is registration free?

Yes, registration is completely free. You can register as an Author, Reviewer, Reader, or any combination of these roles. Registration only takes a few minutes and is required to submit manuscripts or track submission status.

Q5 What language should my manuscript be written in?

Starting from Volume 5, Number 1 (January 2026), all articles published in JKBTI are required to be written in English. Manuscripts submitted in other languages will be returned to the author for translation.

2 Manuscript Preparation

Q6 What is the structure of a JKBTI article?

Articles must follow this structure: (1) Introduction, (2) Research Methods, (3) Results and Discussion, (4) Conclusions, (5) Acknowledgments (if any), and (6) References. The manuscript must be written using the official JKBTI template in Times New Roman 10pt with single line spacing.

Q7 What citation style should I use?

JKBTI uses the IEEE citation style with sequential numbering (e.g., [1], [2], [3]). We strongly recommend using reference management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure proper formatting.

Q8 What are the reference requirements?

References must meet the following criteria: (1) Minimum 15 references, (2) At least 80% from scientific journals, (3) Citations from the last 7 years (except for primer/book references), and (4) Managed using a reference manager tool.

Q9 What is the maximum length of the abstract?

The abstract must be written in English, with a maximum of 250 words. It should concisely cover the background, research problem, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Citations, references, figures, and tables are not permitted in the abstract. Keywords should consist of a maximum of five words or phrases, separated by semicolons.

3 Review Process

Q10 How long does the review process take?

The typical timeline is: (1) Initial screening: 1–3 days, (2) Peer review: 1–3 weeks, (3) Revision: 1–2 weeks, (4) Final decision: 1–2 weeks. In total, the process from submission to publication takes approximately 5–9 weeks, depending on the complexity of revisions and response times.

Q11 What type of peer review does JKBTI use?

JKBTI implements a single-blind peer review model, where the reviewer knows the identity of the author, but the author does not know the identity of the reviewer. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two qualified reviewers in the relevant field.

Q12 What are the possible review decisions?

Reviewers can recommend one of the following decisions: (1) Accept (no revisions needed), (2) Minor Revisions (small corrections), (3) Major Revisions (significant changes required), or (4) Reject (not suitable for publication). The final decision is made by the editor based on reviewer recommendations.

4 Plagiarism & AI Policy

Q13 What is the maximum similarity index allowed?

The maximum similarity index allowed is 25%, checked using Turnitin. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the author for revision before proceeding to the peer review process. We recommend authors screen their manuscripts before submission.

Q14 Can I use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in my manuscript?

Yes, but with strict limitations. The maximum AI-generated content allowed is 25%, verified using Turnitin AI Detection Service. Authors must disclose any use of AI in the "AI Use Statement" section, explaining how the tools were used and their contribution to the research. AI use should only be employed where it provides clear benefits to the scientific analysis.

Q15 What happens if plagiarism is detected?

Actions depend on the severity: (1) Minor plagiarism (short sentences without citation) → warning and request to correct, (2) Major plagiarism (most of the article copied) → manuscript rejected and potential sanction (ban from publishing in JKBTI). All authors are jointly responsible for the content.

5 Publication & Fees

Q16 How much is the Article Processing Charge (APC)?

The APC is: IDR 300,000 for domestic (Indonesian) authors, and FREE (USD 0) for international authors (outside Indonesia). Submission and review are free of charge. The APC is only required after the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Q17 Can I request a waiver for the APC?

Yes, authors who do not have the funds to cover the APC can request a full or partial waiver. Waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the editorial team at journal.jkbti@gmail.com with a brief explanation of your situation.

Q18 When will my article be published?

JKBTI is published four times a year in March, June, September, and December. The submission deadlines are: February (for March issue), May (for June issue), August (for September issue), and November (for December issue).

Q19 How do I pay the APC?

Transfer to Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Account No. 1329014617, a.n. Bahtiar Imran. After payment, send confirmation via WhatsApp to 0853-3762-6083. Payment does not influence editorial decisions—submissions are evaluated based on scientific merit.

6 Copyright & Indexing

Q20 Who holds the copyright of published articles?

The copyright belongs to the author(s). The journal holds the right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors may share or republish their work elsewhere (e.g., institutional repositories, books) as long as they acknowledge that the manuscript was first published in JKBTI.

Q21 Is this journal indexed in any databases?

Yes, JKBTI is indexed in multiple databases including SINTA, DOAJ, Garuda, Crossref (DOI: 10.69916), and various international academic libraries such as Harvard, UC Berkeley, Kyoto University, Utrecht University, and others. See the "Indexing and Archiving" page for the complete list.

Q22 Is JKBTI an open access journal?

Yes, JKBTI is a fully open access journal in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative. All articles are freely available to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to without any subscription barriers. This ensures maximum visibility and impact of published research.

7 Ethics & Policies

Q23 Can I submit the same manuscript to multiple journals?

No. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is considered unethical and unacceptable conduct. If discovered during review or after publication, the manuscript will be rejected/removed, and authors may face sanctions including a ban from publishing in JKBTI.

Q24 Can I withdraw my manuscript after submission?

Withdrawal is possible but strongly discouraged. Authors must submit a written request via email explaining the reason. If withdrawn without acceptable reason or after significant review progress, all authors may face sanctions including a ban from submitting to JKBTI and may be required to cover 80% of the publication fee as administrative costs.

Q25 What is the publication ethics policy?

JKBTI follows the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and Peraturan Kepala LIPI Nomor 5 Tahun 2014. All parties (authors, reviewers, editors, publishers) must adhere to ethical standards including originality, transparency, proper attribution, and avoidance of conflicts of interest.

Q26 How are reviewers recognized for their contributions?
