Peer Review Process
Peer Review Process
In the manuscript review process, IURIS NOTITIA: JURNAL ILMU HUKUM involves several parties, including the author, editor, section editor, and reviewer. The journal implements a single-blind peer review model, where the reviewer knows the identity of the author, but the author does not know the identity of the reviewer.
Review Process Flow
Step 1: Initial Editorial Check
Each submitted manuscript will first be checked by the editor to ensure its alignment with the journal's focus, scope, and author guidelines. If the manuscript is deemed appropriate, the editor will assign a section editor to proceed with the editorial process. If the manuscript is considered unsuitable, it will be returned to the author without undergoing the review stage.
Step 2: Reviewer Assignment
The section editor will then appoint at least two reviewers to evaluate the substance, novelty, and scholarly contribution of the manuscript. The review process generally takes between 1 to 3 weeks. Reviewers conduct their evaluation based on the criteria outlined in the Reviewer's Article Evaluation Form.
Step 3: Review and Feedback
Reviewers may provide feedback and recommend minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection. The section editor will then follow up by sending the reviewer's feedback to the author for revision. If no response is received within the review period, the editorial team will issue a reminder. Should there still be no response, another reviewer may be appointed to ensure the smooth continuation of the editorial process.
Step 4: Revision and Re-review
Once the revised manuscript is submitted, the section editor will re-evaluate it. If necessary, the manuscript may be sent back to reviewers for re-assessment (re-review). The final decision on whether the article is accepted or rejected lies with the editor, section editor, or chief editor, based on the review process and editorial considerations.
Review Timeline
In general, the process from submission to publication takes approximately 5 to 9 weeks and may take longer depending on the complexity of revisions and the response time of both authors and reviewers.
Editorial Decisions
Based on the review process and editorial considerations, the following decisions may be made:
Manuscript is accepted for publication without revisions (rare).
Small corrections or clarifications needed. Typically 2-4 weeks for revision.
Substantial changes required. Manuscript will be re-reviewed. Typically 4-8 weeks.
Manuscript does not meet publication standards or scope requirements.
