Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

We recommend authors to screen their manuscripts using a Similarity Index check before submission to ensure originality. Every article submitted to IURIS NOTITIA: JURNAL ILMU HUKUM will be screened using Turnitin plagiarism detection software. If a manuscript has more than 25% similarity, it will be returned to the author for revision.

The Editorial Team of IURIS NOTITIA: JURNAL ILMU HUKUM acknowledges that plagiarism is unacceptable and therefore establishes the following policy regarding plagiarism and misconduct.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of intentionally or unintentionally claiming credit for another person's scientific work, in whole or in part, without proper citation or acknowledgment of the source.

Requirements for Submission

  • Articles must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All quoted material must be properly cited and distinguished from the author's own text.

Levels of Plagiarism and Actions

Level 1: Minor Plagiarism

Copying short phrases or sentences without citation.

Action
Authors will be warned and asked to correct the manuscript.
Level 2: Major Plagiarism

Copying significant parts of another work without proper citation.

Action
The manuscript will be rejected, and the author may be barred from future submissions.
Level 3: Simultaneous Submission

Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals.

Action
The manuscript will be rejected, and the same sanction as Level 2 applies.

Important: All authors listed on a manuscript are equally responsible for its contents. If plagiarism is detected, all authors will be subject to the same sanction.

Dealing with Research Misconduct

The Editor-in-Chief may consider retraction if:

  • There is clear evidence of unreliable findings due to fabrication, falsification, or serious error.
  • The findings were previously published elsewhere without proper acknowledgment.
  • There are legal or ethical issues, such as copyright infringement, libel, or privacy violations.
  • The peer-review process was compromised or manipulated.
  • Authors failed to disclose a major conflict of interest that could affect the interpretation of the work.

Retraction Notices

Retractions will:

  • Be clearly labeled as Retraction and linked to the original article.
  • Identify the retracted article (title and authors).
  • Be published promptly to reduce harmful effects.
  • Be freely accessible to all readers.
  • State the reason(s) for retraction in a factual and objective manner.

When Retraction is Not Appropriate

Retractions are not appropriate if:

  • The dispute is only about authorship without affecting the validity of the work.
  • The main findings remain reliable and errors can be corrected through a correction notice.
  • Evidence of misconduct is inconclusive or under institutional investigation.
  • A conflict of interest was discovered after publication but does not affect the conclusions of the article.
